Whether you are registered to a 5k or a full marathon, there is a training program that will help you meet your goals.
If you are a NYC resident there are several options to choose from. First, train with the best. The New York City Road Runners has an 8 week program that takes place throughout the year. You can sign up for one or two workouts per week and there are sessions in all five boroughs. Its a very popular program so although many runners join, they break into different pace groups so you are sure to pair up with others that run at your pace. Go to the NYRR website to find out when registration opens for the next session as well as for the latest prices. While there, also check out their virtual, downloadable training programs that runners from out of town can take advantage of.
JackRabbit Sports has group training programs that are 10 week sessions and take place throughout the year. These are much smaller groups with one coach so expect a bit more personal attention but fewer runners at your pace to pair up with. Their training programs include Level 1 - 5k, Level 2 - 10k, Half and Full Marathons. As a trainee you’ll also receive a discount for purchases at their store. If you live outside of NYC, no problem. Head over to Training Peaks where you can purchase training programs from many different coaches for any race distance. These are virtual programs that can be basic, generic programs based on finishing times or custom programs that are designed specifically based on your past race history and running ability.
