Run Tour Summary

It’s been called the heartland of New York City, an urban Eden. Local runners call it their home-base for marathon training and weekly races organized by the New York Road Runners. Central Park is a man-made urban park that was designed and constructed from 1858 to 1873 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. It is the most popular urban park in the United States with over 25 million visitors each year to enjoy its running paths, expansive open fields, ponds, lakes, rolling hills, rambling woods, the zoo, restaurants, Shakespeare in the Park, and much more.

It’s no wonder why the Central Park run tour is one of our most popular, as you are immediately transported from a hectic, crowded city to a beautiful, green, bucolic oasis. You’ll run alongside local runners on paths and drives that will take you pass an endless amount of amazing sites. This running tour will leave you feeling invigorated and wanting to explore even more of what Central Park has to offer. Receive a FINISHER MEDAL upon completion of the run tour.

The Course

The course covers a distance of approximately 4.5 miles (7.24k) and it takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. We'll run on a combination of city sidewalks and running paths. We stop periodically to discuss notable historic and contemporary sights. Expect a small group that can range from 2 runners up to 12, so that no one is left behind and all can hear the guide. This is a sightseeing tour for runners, not a race.

Meeting Location

We'll meet in front of the USS Maine Monument at the southwest entrance of Central Park. Your guide will be wearing a branded On Course Run Tours t-shirt or jacket. For more travel info go to the MTA Planner if traveling by subway
